How to Check In with Delta Airlines?

Delta Airlines gives you permission to either check-in online or do it at the airport.  In both cases, you would require a valid ID card and the flight documents with you.

What are the methods of Check-In?

  • Up to 24 hours prior to your flight departure, you can check-in online through the Website delta.com; click on ‘Check-In' in the header of the page. Enter your confirmation number, SkyMiles number or credit card number to access your itinerary. You can either print your boarding pass, or you can get an eBoarding pass on your mobile device.
  • The easier way is to download the Fly Delta App. Once you download it, log in or register for a SkyMiles account. On logging in, you will be automatically checked in 24 hours prior to your flight. Click on Today Mode to check your boarding pass, baggage tracker, and more.
  • You can even use Delta Airport kiosks to check in quickly. On arriving, follow the prompts on the kiosk to enter your SkyMiles number, confirmation, or eTicket number to access your trip and print your boarding pass.
  • You can speak in-person with Delta Airlines Agents at check-in desks for easy Check-In procedure. Visit the area clearly labeled for Delta Flights. If you are a Delta Medallion or First Class, Premium Select, or Delta One Passengers, you will find a special Sky Priority Boarding line for yourself.
  • If you are in a hurry, you can check-in as soon as you exit the car. There is a Delta curbside desk located at passenger drop-off at most U.S. airports. However, you can only check-in here, if you are carrying a light and medium-sized baggage. For oversized baggage, you would need to check-in at the airport, inside.

What are the required travel documents?

To pass through the security, you need a valid U.S. government-issued photo ID or a passport from your country of origin. You need to show that the name on the boarding pass matches the name on your government-issued ID.

Acceptable forms of Ids include:

  • Passport
  • Driving License
  • Military ID
  • Other Government-Issued Photo ID Card.

Check-In Time Requirements

On traveling within the United States, arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to your departure. You need to check-in at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. You also need to be at the gate and be ready to board 15 minutes before the scheduled departure.

Airport Security

It is essential for you to review the following guidelines for airport security:

  • Please check items banned on Delta Airlines. Under the safety regulations, certain items are completely prohibited during travel. These include flammables, batteries, explosives, aerosols, pesticides or bleach powder, gunpowder, torch, paints or lubricant, suitcases that use lithium or lithium-ion batteries, and items with refrigerants.

Useful Security Tips

Get through security checkpoints by following the simple tips:

  • Pack light – less cluttered bag will speed up the screening process.
  • Pack sharp objects or deodorants in your checked bags if they are not prohibited.
  • Similarly, pack lithium batteries for cameras, cell phones, or laptops in your checked baggage only.
  • Be ready to take off your shoes, belt, and remove your phone and other electronic devices from your pocket during the security check.
  • Have your ID and boarding pass handy as you would require to show it to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
